FAQ

You’ll find answers to the questions we hear most often from our patients below. If you’d like more information or you have a question we didn’t address, contact our Fryeburg dental practice today by giving us a call at (207) 935-3133.

How Often Do I Need to See a Dentist?

The American Dental Association recommends visiting a dentist at least two times per year for a dental exam and professional cleaning. However, it depends on your oral health. Your Fryeburg family dentist can let you know your ideal schedule for cleanings and check-ups.

Are Dental X-Rays Safe?

Yes. Digital technology has greatly minimized the already small risk of dental x-rays. You’re exposed to more radiation taking an airplane flight or going out in the sun every day. However, with any type of radiation, the risk, no matter how tiny, can’t be eliminated completely. At Fryeburg Dental Center, your safety is paramount. We use the most cutting-edge digital x-rays that expose patients to up to 90% less radiation.

We don’t take x-rays at every appointment as a matter of routine. Instead, we only take them when they’re necessary and when there is a clear benefit to obtaining accurate diagnostic information. We also follow all precautions, including using proper shielding.

Do You Offer Payment Plans for Dental Treatment?

We do! At Fryeburg Dental Center, we strive to make dental treatment affordable for the families we serve. We file with most insurance and accept a variety of forms of payment. If you want to break up the cost of your treatment into monthly payments, we also accept CareCredit, a healthcare financing card that lets you finance your dental treatment.

What Can I Expect at My First Appointment?

At your first visit, you’ll be greeted by our warm, friendly team members. We’ll take your medical and dental history and digital x-rays, if necessary. Dr. Harper or Dr. Pickerell will perform a thorough oral exam. If you’re here for a regular check-up, they’ll also do an oral cancer screening and a hygienist will clean your teeth. The dentists always take the time to talk with you about your concerns, make personalized oral hygiene recommendations and answer your questions.

If your visit is related to a current issue that requires treatment, Dr. Harper or Dr. Pickerell will walk you through their diagnosis. With tools like our intra-oral cameras, they can show you the areas of concern up close. They’ll discuss all of your treatment options and what to expect. A team member will wrap things up by going over the cost of your proposed treatment plan, your insurance coverage and our flexible payment options. Schedule an appointment today by requesting a visit online or calling our Fryeburg dental office at (207) 935-3133.

What Does Painless Dentistry Mean?

At Fryeburg Dental Center, we’re big believers in painless dentistry. This means using modern tools and techniques to ensure procedures and visits are pain-free and stress-free. In fact, some of our treatments don’t even require local anesthetic (no needles!).

What if I Have a Dental Emergency?

If you have a dental emergency and you’re in need of a Fryeburg or North Conway dentist, call our office at (207) 935-3133 for assistance. Be sure to read through our tips for handling dental emergencies as well.

Yes. We offer pediatric dentistry in Fryeburg, Maine. We treat patients from infancy through adulthood. Our dentists and team members are experienced in caring for little ones and we make visits positive and fun. Thanks to our technology, including laser dentistry, air abrasion, and digital x-rays and impressions, we ensure dental treatment is comfortable and painless and, often, we don’t even need to use needles. Kids will actually like going to the dentist, which helps set the stage for a lifetime of excellent oral health.
